As for this week in particular I feel like it went really good. While I know I still have some work to do before I am sure I have Hostias memorized for Tuesday, so if I can't pull it together I might have to think about doing Non e ver again. But for right now I am just going to focus on it and when the time comes I will make my decision then. As for the rest of my pieces I feel like none of the melodies are extremely difficult, but I definitely need to do some consistent work on the diction of them, especially the foreign languages.
I can't be entirely sure whats God has in store for me next week, but I will just have to take it and run with it instead of wasting my time trying to over think things.
Josh Calkin commented on how well you sang Hostias yesterday, despite your creative entry! I think there are many things "clicking" technically and musically when it comes to your performances. You have such a wonderfully expressive face, and I really enjoy watching you grow as a performer. I would like you to start thinking about what you are trying to share with the audience in Non e ver.....what kind of expressions will you use and where does it change in the piece? This will really help make a connection between you and the audience. Practice watching yourself in the mirror when you do this---especially during the prelude, interludes, and postlude. Don't "drop" the character just because you are not actively singing. Think about it! Keep up the great work, Eric. I am so proud and pleased with your progress!
